I’m currently outlining the sequels to The Shadow Student as I write Dragon’s Alliance! I don’t want to give away too many details about them yet, but here are my plans so far:
• Like the first book, they all have pretty strong internal storylines with a beginning, middle, and end, but there will be more of an overarching conflict. I’m not a fan of deliberate cliffhangers myself, so nothing like that, but some books will end on more suspenseful “we solved the immediate problem, but where the heck do we go from here” moments.
• I would like to get multiple books done before I start putting them out. That’ll let me maintain a faster release schedule between books 2-5, which are more interconnected, and stress out you readers less. 😉 It will mean a longer break between books 1 and 2, however. What do you guys think?
• Future books will definitely be more NA than YA. Cass will put her harem to use!
• The story will go to some dark places (Arcturus, I love you, but you are way more of a mess than you’d ever admit,) but there will be triumph, healing, self-discovery, redemption, justice, ice cream, and hot guy cuddle piles too. I can promise a happy ending for Cass and her guys, in a better world than the one they started in.
